Finding new homes in the UK
My wife and I have decided to try pastures new, and will be moving house in the not too distant future. We’ve yet to decide on a particular property, however, but we’re looking forward to the search. Thankfully, the choice of new homes in the UK is particularly good at the moment.
I like the idea of a place with a very large garden, because my idea of a perfect Sunday afternoon involves pottering about with my plants and flowers. My wife is keen to find a well-equipped, spacious kitchen because she likes to arrange dinner parties.

Door Drop Leafleting does have its Benefits
We get lots of leaflets through our door ranging from the latest menu for the local Chinese takeaway to an odd-job man who wants to know if we need our gutters cleaning. I know its only people trying to make a living and sometimes the leaflets go straight into the bin but occasionally the door drop leafleting side of the post does contain a timely surprise with a doorstep advertisement for just the service we require. However, I always like to use local tradesmen and look specifically for those who have a local telephone number as well as a mobile and an address or base in the area.

Strong White Cardboard Boxes are Great for Moving Home
Moving house always brings with it the usual packing and unpacking, and trying to remember just what you put in a certain box. In the past Ive used strong white cardboard boxes. They are great for storing any items in, whether they are books and CDs that you need to put up in the attic or valued family heirlooms. And when you move house, they are easy to stack, transport and store and you can always write whats in them in bold black or red letters. After use, just flatten the boxes and store them away as you never know when you will next need them.

Recyclable Packaging is an Important Issue for Many Consumers
If I buy a large item that has a lot of packaging, one of the first things I look for now is whether it can be recycled or how much of it can be used again. Recyclable packaging has become an issue that has taken on growing importance as consumers become more environmentally aware. Many specifically look for items with minimal packaging but when such packaging is unavoidable, such as for protecting a new domestic appliance, the amount of it that can be recycled is always a factor. Ideally, I always prefer the delivery organisation to take it away with them where possible to recycle.

Notebooks come in all Shapes and Sizes
Notebooks come in all Shapes and Sizes
Notebooks seem to come in all shapes and sizes; some with narrow lines, some with big open lines, others with margins and those without. I use one all the time for my work and after awhile you get used to a specific style I prefer a ring binder which opens up from the top though I have many colleagues who prefer the smaller pocket style notebooks that open sideways. When I am desk-based, however, I also opt for an A4 ring binder as you can do so much with one of those, even doodle in the corner. Its a case of picking the notebook that best suits your needs and theres plenty to choose from.

How to Get Rid of Ants
If you are looking for tips on how to get rid of ants, theres plenty of information available on the internet, especially on pest control sites. Its generally accepted that the best way to resolve the problem is to target the nest, either directly or indirectly. This can involve finding the nest and destroying it and making sure you kill the queen ant as it is she who lays the eggs and keeps the colony going. Or you can take the indirect approach and lay down ant killer which the ants will then collect and transport back to the nest themselves.

Plastic Bags need to be Used More than Once
In our throw-away society, we had become accustomed to dumping plastic bags once we had used them just the once. Thankfully, it has become clear in recent years, that this is not best for the environment and that re-using them is a more eco-friendly approach. I tend to use them over and again when I go to the supermarket until they split. In respect of plastic bags, supermarkets have taken the lead and played an important role in helping cut down on their use by encouraging their re-use with various incentives such as reward points. Its much better than seeing them dumped in landfill sites.

Make the most of spa offers
I could never afford to pay for my wife to enjoy a spot of pampering, because every time I made enquiries I found the prices were just too prohibitive. However, there are bargains to be found at times, and that applies to any sector of goods or services. Thankfully, I have found one or two generous spa offers of late.
She has managed to enjoy a relaxing aromatherapy session as well as a soothing massage at a luxury venue just outside London. The way she eulogises about the benefits involved may even mean I might give it a go myself next time.

Brown Cardboard Boxes are Perfect When Moving House
Ive not moved house for a number of years but were thinking about moving on in the not too distant future. The problem is, having acquired so much junk, were not sure how much to take with us. Ive already starting collecting brown cardboard boxes and trying to store a few of the less essential items in them. I find that a good, solid brown cardboard box is perfect if you are moving house and looking to pack items away in. I always try to get boxes of a similar shape, size and strength as they are easier to stack, transport and store.

Raticida – a Spanish word that can cause concern
I recently spent a week on holiday in Spain, but when I arrived at the villa a van with ‘Raticida’ written on the side was parked outside. A man came outside and walked towards it, so I asked who he was, but he didn’t speak any English and my command of the Spanish language isn’t exactly comprehensive.
Anyway, the landlord of the property then arrived, and he managed to throw some light on the mystery. The word means ‘Mouse Control’, and the fellow had been laying a few bait boxes around the place. He said it was just a precaution, and that the chap turns up every couple of months or so to put new bait down.
I can only conclude, having spent a blissful week in that wonderfully-appointed place, that he must be doing a very good job, because I never saw or heard any mice during my stay.
